matching app for music creators
[ Baseclub ]
A French app that matches music creators by sound, so artists, producers and engineers can find each other and make things together.

Case study
Overview
Baseclub is a French mobile app that connects music creators: artists, producers and people who sell music services. Matching starts with audio, so you hear someone before you meet them.
The problem
Finding the right collaborator in music is mostly luck and Instagram DMs. Baseclub needed to understand each creator well enough to match them, without making sign up feel like a job application.
My role & team
Product designer on the mobile app, designed in French.
Process
- Wrote a goal for each flow before designing it. For onboarding: register people, figure out their type, and collect what drives matching
- Designed onboarding as short, playful steps
- Covered every account and settings flow, including blocked users and legal pages
Key decisions
Only ask what matching needs
Category, artistic signature, role, specialties and goal. If a question didn’t improve a match, it didn’t get a screen.
A casual voice
The French copy uses “tu” and talks like a friend: “pas de soucis, on t’enverra les instructions”. Musicians don’t want a bank.
Location, gently
Location makes matches better, so the app asks nicely and promises your exact location stays private.
Screen by screen
Onboarding
